A woman who just underwent major surgery got upset after her partner said it was okay for his son to have a sleepover at their home, but didn't check in with her first.
In a "AmItheA------" Reddit post, the 44-year-old woman explained she recently had major gynecological surgery, which resulted in the removal of "one ovary and fallopian tube, along with removal of a 6cm solid mass."
About a week into her recovery, she found out from her partner, 42, that his teenage son was having 5 friends over for a sleepover the following night.
"I had no prior knowledge," the woman wrote, adding that she was "instantly upset."
"I asked why he would agree to that not only without speaking to me first but also when I'm just home from hospital and recovering from major surgery,” she wrote. “His response was that he didn't think it would affect me and he just forgot to mention it.”
In response, she “started crying, saying that I felt so uncared for and that he was being inconsiderate of my healing and recovery."
Her partner then suggested that if it "bothered" her that much, she could go stay with her mom, who lives nearby — an offer she quickly took him up on.
“I packed a suitcase and drove myself to my Mums right then,” she wrote. “Even though I'm not supposed to be driving yet.”
The woman, who said she's in a "considerable amount of pain," shared that she's still struggling to see her partner's point of view.
“I don't understand how he thinks an additional 5 teenage boys in a house -
with 1 toilet and the living space right next to our bedroom, where I'm supposed to be resting and recovering, won't affect me," she wrote.
She finished the post by asking if she was in the wrong — a question that was met with a resounding “no" in the comments section.

"In the wake of a major surgery, your husband should be doing everything in his power to ensure that you’re comfortable and that you have a peaceful place to recover. Instead, he decided to have 5 teenagers over," read one comment. "You are in no state to be hosting a party and that decision was either very stupid or very ignorant on his behalf."
Meanwhile, another commenter wrote that "the worst part of your story is his accusation that you are overreacting."
"If anything, you are under reacting" their reply continued. "Good luck, OP, and get well soon."
Although the commenters differed on their advice to the woman, they all agreed "you absolutely deserve better."
In an update to the post, the woman said that she was "overwhelmed" by the amount of "care and consideration" they'd given her.
"I truly appreciate all of you for taking the time to read and respond," she wrote, adding that the response was "restoring my faith in humanity."
