Booking.com just announced one Utah desert town is the most welcoming city in America.
Moab, Utah, topped the list of the top 10 most welcoming American cities in Booking.com’s Traveler Review Awards. The recent award recognizes various destinations for their “accommodation and transport partners that go above and beyond providing incredible stays for guests,” per Booking.com. “These destinations have an above average amount of properties with exceptional reviews for friendly hospitality.”
Located in Utah’s Southeastern region, the desert oasis is “a true outdoor enthusiast's paradise,” per Booking.com. The town invites visitors and residents to explore some of the U.S.'s various beautiful landscapes — including red rock formations, natural sandstone arches and mesa landforms.
Travelers can explore the national parks of the Arches and Canyonlands or head to the Colorado River, allowing visitors to explore the rock formations on foot or kayak, paddleboard, or raft their way through the environment. Other activities include mountain biking and horseback riding.
For those who want to relax after a day of exploring, travelers can head into the town and wander amongst the man -
y boutique shops and dining options. Visitors can indulge in anything from bakeries, breweries, taco trucks to fine dining.
Along with a reputation for being the most welcoming town in the U.S., the region around Moab also has some of the darkest skies in the country, allowing visitors to have an ideal night of stargazing.
While Moab topped the list, a couple more desert towns made the top 10 friendliest in the U.S., including Joshua Tree, Calif. andSedona, Ariz. The remaining seven cities include Estes Park, Colo.; Bryson City, N.C.; Pagosa Springs, Colo.; Asheville, N.C.; Bar Harbor, Maine; and Leavenworth, Wash.

The top U.S. friendliest town also scored a spot on the most welcoming cities on Earth, trailing behind Arraial d'Ajuda, Brazil;Ermoupoli, Greece;Viana do Castelo, Portugal; Daylesford, Australia; and Grindelwald, Switzerland. Meanwhile, the remaining four include Uzès, France; Mazatlán, Mexico; Jaisalmer, India; and Fujikawaguchiko, Japan.
