A Mississippi woman was sentenced to at least 35 years in prison after she pleaded guilty to murdering a man and then dumping his body in an oil field, according to Mississippi prosecutors.

Mississippi 15th Circuit Court District Attorney Hal Kittrell said in a press release obtained by PEOPLE that Sierra Jane Inscoe, 22, from Prentiss, Miss., was sentenced to 40 years in prison, 35 of which will be “served without the possibility of parole or early release.”

This comes after Inscoe pleaded guilty in court on July 16 to fatally shooting 24-year-old Carson Sistrunk on September 4, 2022, according to the release.

Kittrell thanked the local and state law enforcement agencies that worked together investigating this case in his statement, adding that “thanks to their hard work, we were able to take a violent individual off the streets and show that there are severe consequences" to those who harm others.

“Though nothing can bring Mr. Sistrunk back, it is my sincere hope that his family can find some closure in this resolution,” he concluded the statement.

Sistrunk was reported missing on Sept. 4, 2022, three days before his body was found by pipeline workers along Gulf Camp Road in Newhebron, Miss., on Sept. 7, 2022, according to The Prentiss Headlight. A worker had found his body after noticing tire tracks nearby, per WDAM.

According to the Prentiss Headlight, one of Sistrunk’s family members reported that he had gone missing after meeting with a woman he was communicating with on Snapchat.

Inscoe was identified as a suspect in Sistrunk’s death after she was stopped by officers while driving his truck, a Ford Raptor, according to the Prentiss Headlight and WLBT.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation issued a felony warrant for her arrest on the basis of driving a car that wasn’t registered in her name, according to WDAM.

After Inscoe was arrested, she was indicted by a grand jury in August 2023 and denied bond on Sept. 14, 2022, according to the Prentiss Headlight. She was transferred to the Rankin County Detention Center, where she remained during her trial, per the outlet.
