Sandra Bullock Just Carried the Hands-Free Bag Style That Jennifer Aniston and Oprah Wear, Too

If you locked up my entire wardrobe and threw away the key, I’d be totally fine — as long as I was wearing an outfit like Sandra Bullock’s.

She layered a white T-shirt and lightweight cardigan together like a pro, while her white jeans blended right in perfectly. She continued this successful style streak with some shearling Birkenstock-like sandals that were totally out-of-the-box and the hands-free accessory her pal Jennifer Aniston is becoming known for, a crossbody bag. So, basically, back to my initial point, the look is timeless, visually appealing, and downright immaculate for summer.

And every single aspect of her outfit has something, er, someone, to back it up. Martha Stewart recently told PEOPLE, “I love fresh white jeans,” while Reese Witherspoon wore a straight-leg pair to usher in summer. The Morning Show star also wears white T-shirts and cozy cardigans (so does Nicole Kidman!). Strappy sandals are also a celebrity-favorite during this time of year, while crossbody bags are becoming the blueprint for summer bags with Jennifer Garner, Oprah, and Taylor Swift carrying them.

Bullock’s no-fuss T-shirt and cardigan setup is how you beat the summer system. I’m someone who typically runs hot, but I also live in Arizona and anywhere indoors is about as frigid as an ice box. Because of this, I love having a lightweight sweater that I can remove in a second, making both outside and inside bearable and comfortable.

e, this rib-knit one from Old Navy is just $8 and “does not need to be ironed,” according to one shopper. And take it from me, having to iron something that should be fuss-free defeats the entire purpose, so this is critical. 

On the bottom, choose whatever denim cut fits you best. I prefer wide-leg and straight-leg styles, but flare pairs like these are Jennifer Lopez-approved. (Pst! They’re on super sale.) Barrel-leg jeans are also something I recently became aware of, and Madewell just sent me this off-white pair. I haven’t worn them yet, but they feel soft like butter and the curved lines seem like they’d add some new dimension to any outfit.

Hilary Duff recently told PEOPLE she’s “obsessed” with these “really comfy” Freedom Moses sandals. They’re made from rubber that doesn’t smell like tires or balloons, but rather the brand’s milk and honey scent. (This kind of feels like the equivalent of Elle Woods’ scented resume, does it not?) There are dozens of colors to choose from, but from experience, white shoes and I don’t get along —they always get dirty. So, I’d recommend the beige pair instead.

The final thread to complete her look is a crossbody bag. I like that this faux leather purse is super plain and clean — a bag style that everyone needs to have. It’s also got a few zippered compartments for security, but it’s not so big that you’re going to be digging for your phone or lip balm.
