PEOPLE can exclusively reveal that the pop star, 25, has madethis year’s TIME100 Next list, which honors rising stars of all industries and is featured on one of their three covers.
The singer's cover issue, which hits newsstands on Friday, Oct. 4. shows her posing in a bright red, sexy silk bodysuit equipped with an oversized bow while smiling with her hands in the air in front of green grass and blue sky drop.
Carpenter, who is currently on the road as part of theShort 'n' Sweettour, will take time out of her busy schedule to perform at the TIME100 Next event on Wednesday, Oct. 9, in New York City, PEOPLE can exclusively reveal.
The issue also includes a sweet tribute to Carpenter penned by Christina Aguilera in which she tells fans to "never underestimate the mighty power" behind her talent.

Carpenter's inclusion on the list comes as no surprise, as her sixth studio album,Short n' Sweet, released on Friday, Aug. 23, debuted atop theBillboard200 chart, earning the equivalent of 362,000 album units, thanks to some of her massive hits like "Taste," "Espresso" and "Please Please Please."

When the album's upcoming release was announced in June, Carpenter told her fans on social media that the project was "quite special" to her and hoped "it’ll be something special to you too."
