Ryan Reynolds Says He Watched the R-Rated Deadpool & Wolverine with His 9-Year-Old Daughter James

Ryan Reynoldsis not afraid to show his daughter James an R-rated film.

The Deadpool & Wolverine star, 47, revealed that he and his nine-year-old recently watched his upcoming project, which was given an R rating by The Motion Picture Association’sClassification and Rating Administration in June.

"Well, I’m not saying that other people should do this, but my 9-year-old watched the movie with me and my mom, who’s in her late 70s, and it was just was one of the best moments of this whole experience for me. Both of them were laughing their guts out, were feeling the emotion where I most desperately hoped people would be," said Reynolds in an interview with The New York Times published on Monday, July 15.

The actor went on to say that he allowed his daughter to do so because of his own experiences as a kid.

"When I saw rated-R movies when I was a kid, they left a huge impression on me because I didn’t feel like people were pulling punches, and it’s been a huge inspiration to so many of the things that I look to make now," he told the publication.

James is Reynolds and wife Blake Lively's eldest child. The two are also parents to daughters Inez, 7, and Betty, 4, in addition to a fourth -

Reynolds, who stars alongside Hugh Jackman in the film, told PEOPLE in June that he also adopted a parent tip from the movie's director, Shawn Levy.

"Shawn Levy actually told me something that stuck with me forever, that people tend to only talk about their wins. But I think it's really important for your kids in particular to know that you lose. You don't get what you want all the time," he said.

"Something you worked on really hard didn't work. You feel like you said something embarrassing today, you did something that didn't sit right with you. It's just so important that your kids see that and they don't just hear, 'Oh Dad nailed it.' Because you lose so much more than you win," continued Reynolds. "It's really stuck with me."
