The Wall Street Journal , CNN , the New York Times and the Associated Press reported the news, citing unnamed law enforcement sources.

The Secret Service previously said that Crooks had been "neutralized" and was dead in the aftermath of the shooting, which took place in Butler, Penn.

One bystander, whose identity has not been released, was killed. Two others were critically injured, according to a spokesperson at Allegheny General Hospital.

Crooks was not carrying identification, so he was identified with DNA, the FBI said,according to CBS.
