Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway's son was arrested in Oslo over the weekend, according to a report.

Marius Borg Høiby, the royal's 27-year-old son from before her marriage to Crown Prince Haakon, allegedly had an incident involving a woman in her 20s on Aug. 4, according to Norwegian outlet Se og Hør. Marius reportedly "attacked her psychologically and physically," and she was treated at a hospital for a concussion.

Marius was arrested and held for 30 hours before being released.

Se og Hør says police confirmed that "a person was arrested and charged with assault and later released from custody."

Marius is not in the line of succession to the throne and doesn't have a public role. In 2017, it was announced that he would lead a largely private life.

Crown Princess Mette-Marit said of the decision at the time, "Marius has always had a role that has been difficult to define in the public sphere. He is and will be an exceptionally important part of our family. Marius became a symbol o -

f the unusual choice we made when we got married, at the same time, he will not carry public duties like his siblings. He should not have a public role and is not a public figure."

However, he often joins the Norwegian royals for family events, such as the 18th birthday celebrations for his half-sister, Princess Ingrid Alexandra, in 2022.
