Princess Anne is stepping out as she gradually recovers from herhorse-related "incident"last month.

King Charles' sister, 73, visited a town close to her home in Gloucestershire, England, on July 19, to formally open a new Emergency Department at Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

The visit was a scheduled event and was followed by a second outing to the agricultural showground in Malvern, Worcestershire, which is around an hour's drive from Anne's Gatcombe Park estate.

Only a day earlier, on July 18, it emerged that Anne had canceled some upcoming planned outings to Scotland and Norfolk, England next week following medical advice to take a more measured approach to her return to full-time work.

Anne had been due to visit the NLV Pharos, a lighthouse tender in Scotland on July 22 and 23. Royal aides said that because of the long distances from her home in Gloucestershire, England, it wasn't possible for the princess to travel to Scotland at this time.

PEOPLE understands that she is continuing with her rest and recuperation and will only carry out public royal duties when her medical team recommends that it is safe and comfortable for her to do so.

Friday's visit was especially poignant as Anne had needed emergency care when the accident happened on June 23. She sustained a concussion and minor injuries in the "incident" at Gatcombe Park, Buckingham Palace said in a statement on June 24. "Her Royal Highness remains in Southmead Hospital, Bristol, as a precautionary measure for observation and is expected to make a full and swift recovery," the statement read.

Soon after arriving for the opening the new Emergency Department, Anne was pictured chatting to staffers. The Royal College of Emergency Medicine praised her return, sayi -

ng in a social media post: "Wonderful to see that our patron, HRH The Princess Royal, is recovering well and will officially open the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust’s new emergency department at Worcestershire Royal Hospital in Worcester today."

Earlier in the week, on Wednesday, July 17, Anne visited a British Army Military Intelligence Battalion in Salisbury, Wiltshire (which, again, isn't far from her Gatcombe Park home.)

On July 12, the royal also made her first outing since her June 24 accident when she visited the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) National Championships at Hartpury University and Hartpury College in Gloucestershire.Soon after she stepped out of her car that day, shesaid she couldn't "remember a single thing"about the accident.

Despite her setback, Princess Anne appeared to be in her element amid the equestrian setting, where she joined RDA supporters in the arena, presented awards and met winners.

Princess Anne wasdischarged from the hospitalfollowing a five-day stay after the accident on June 23.
