Prince William flew to Germany to support England in their UEFA EURO quarterfinals match against Switzerlandat Düsseldorf Arena on July 6.

As President of The Football Association, William, 42, is a long-time football enthusiast and frequently attends matches to support the squad.

In June, the Prince of Wales was seen at England's group-stage game against Denmark, which ended in a 1-1 draw. He was spotted enjoying the match with King Frederik of Denmark at Frankfurt Arena. Before the tournament on June 20, he met with the England team, sharing advice from his three children: Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6.

“The best bit of advice I got was to eat twice the amount you normally would eat," he said. "So, I now have visions of you running around with massive great tummies. So maybe take my youngest’s advice with a pinch of salt, particularly around the physio team."

The prince has attended several soccer games recently, occasionally alongside his son George. Soccer has been a source of joy for William as both his wife, Kate Middleton, and his father, King Charles, are undergoing cancer treatment.

"He has been hugely buoyed by the results of Aston Villa,"a source previously told PEO -

PLE. "You shouldn’t overlook the importance of soccer in these moments."

William's overseas trip is also seen as a positive sign that the Princess of Wales is doing well. She made a public appearance with the royal family on June 15 for Trooping the Colour, though she continues chemotherapy and is not yet fully back to royal duties. In a personal message issued June 14, Kate expressed her determination to heal and take each day as it comes.

"I’m looking forward to attending the King’s Birthday Parade this weekend with my family and hope to join a few public engagements over the summer, but equally knowing I am not out of the woods yet," the Princess of Wales said. "I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body and allowing myself to take this much-needed time to heal."

A source close to the royal household told PEOPLE that Kate “has been doing what’s right for her and recovering privately at home. She is dealing with it the best she can.”
