The cast of Pretty Little Liars is on the fence about the season finale.

During a panel at Epic Cons in Chicago earlier this month, former PLL cast members Troian Bellisario (Spencer Hastings), Keegan Allen (Toby Cavanaugh), Torrey DeVitto (Melissa Hastings) and Ashley Benson (Hannah Marin) provided their thoughts on the final episode, the identity of the last “A” and the show’s most significant twist.

Bellisario, 39, said of the ending, “I wish that we had gotten to introduce Alex Drake a lot earlier. My only frustration was that it felt like a total bait-and-switch because we waited until the very last episode. So it wasn’t as fun, I imagine, for audience members as when it was CeCe Drake.”

She suggested that it would have been more satisfying if CeCe was the last antagonist because viewers “could kind of understand the motivations” and “knew the character.”

“So when all of a sudden, it had to in an hour, make sense and also close up all the storylines that everybody loved so much — that was the only thing,” the actress continued. “I loved that I had the opportunity to do that, but I wish that we had threaded it out a little bit more so that it didn’t tak -

e away from the more important storytelling points of the finale.”

Reflecting on the many deaths that occurred throughout the seven-season program, the cast chose Sasha Pieterse’s Alison DiLaurentis to revive, which happened in the fifth season when she returned to the show.

“That was truly the biggest turning point in the show,” Bellisario said. “When we found out she was still alive, it changed the whole fabric of the show because then there wasn’t just four of us, there was five.”

The cast also had another revelation while answering audience questions: Sydney Sweeney had appeared in the finale of the Freeform series.

“I’m in the Twilight Zone,” a shocked DeVitto, 39, reacted. “What?”
