Mandy Moore isn't afraid to chat about some of the less glamorous parts of motherhood.

The Dr. Death star, 40, who is currently pregnant with her third baby, recently spoke with PEOPLE about her collaboration with skin-and-body care brand Eucerin. As she chatted about her beauty routine, the star shared some of her tricks for getting her two sons Augustus "Gus," 3, and Oscar "Ozzie," 19 months, to wear sunscreen.

"I feel very lucky that my boys are not super squirmy," the expectant mom tells PEOPLE. "They recognize that I've always been that mom that's like, look, I am going to pick your boogers and I'm going to slather you with moisturizer out of the bath. That's just all they've ever known from me."

"So putting another product on top of that when we're out in the sun doesn't really bother them or affect them. They're like, 'Oh, this is pretty routine for us,' " Moore shares.

"My husband I looked at each other the other day and we're like, 'This is a good phase.' But also recognizing in parenting, it's an ebb and flow," she continues. "You cannot get used to anything because as soon as you sort of digested it and you're like, 'Oh wow, we can handle this,' then some other challenge is thrown your way."

"So we're trying to be present and enjoy where we are right now at this juncture with the boys, but recognizing, oh, I'm sure there's a sleep regression around the corner, or there's something sort of waiting to throw off the vibes right now."

Though she's waiting for the other shoe to drop, Moore says her family has a few fun things lined up for the summer.

"I'm excited, we have a guy that's going to camp. We're going to take a couple of family trips. It feels like a little more manageable at this point," adds Moore.
