Police: Mom Accused of Drowning Her 7-Year-Old Daughter Allegedly Said She Needed Some ‘Time Alone'

A Tennessee mother faces a murder charge after authorities allege she drowned her daughter.

Brandi Elliott, 33, has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of her child, the Hendersonville Police Department said in a press release. It’s unclear if Elliot has entered a plea or retained an attorney to speak on her behalf.

On July 13, officers responded to Drakes Creek in Hendersonville, Tenn., a suburb of Nashville, after receiving a report of a child who had drowned, police said. Investigators later determined that Elliot, the child’s mother, was allegedly responsible for the death, according to the release.

According to court documents obtained by WTVF, Elliot allegedly drowned her 7-year-old daughter after reportedly saying she needed some “time alone.”

The documents, which were also obtained by WKRN, further state that Elliot claimed she held the girl underwater until she “felt her bubbling” and told her to be quiet. Elliot said she tried to revive the girl by -

performing CPR after the drowning but she was later pronounced dead at a local hospital, the outlet reported.

The girl was identified by loved ones on a GoFundMe campaign as Piper. The fundraiser, which was created by a family friend of Piper’s father, Jon Elliot, hopes to raise funds to offset funeral arrangements and other expenses while he’s hospitalized for reasons that were not specified.

“Piper brought her daddy a bunch of coloring book pictures she colored for him to hang up on the wall of his hospital room and a few hours later she was killed,” the fundraiser reads.
