Traces of cyanide have reportedly been disovered in the blood and cups of two Americans and four Vietnamese nationals found dead in Bangkok, according to reports.

According to AP News, six people were found dead on Tuesday, July 16, at the Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel.

The outlet added that the victims, who were reportedly identified by Bangkok police chief Lt. Gen. Thiti Sangsawang, consisted of three men and three women. An anonymous officer from the Lumpini police station also told the outlet they were found foaming at the mouth.

ABC News reported that an initial autopsy revealed traces of cyanide found in the victims’ blood, prompting Thai authorities to believe that a bad investment caused one of them to poison the others.

Per the outlet, the Thai police force’s forensic vision, Lt. Gen. Trairong Piwpan also confirmed that the victims’ cups and thermoses had been found to contain traces of cyanide.

Bangkok Police did not immediately reply when contacted by PEOPLE for comment.

Per ABC News, Chulalongkorn University’s medical school’s forensic medical head, Kornkiat Vongpaisarnsin, revealed at a news conference that a CAT scan also confirmed there were no signs of blunt force trauma on the victim's bodies.

The outlets added that a husband and wife among the dead had invested around 10 million baht ($278,000) with two of the other people.

The money was reportedly meant to help build a hospital in Japan. Per the publications, Bangkok Deputy Police Chief Noppasin Punsawat said an issue regarding the investment could have resulted in the suspected poisoning.

According to ABC News, police said that while four bodies were found in the living room, two were found in the bedroom. Two of them also appeared to have tried to reach for a door but were unable to open it before collapsing.   

The deceased were last seen alive on Monday when food was delivered to their room. They were then found dead by a maid on Tuesday after they failed to check out.

In pictures released by the police, per The Washington Post, bodies were seen lying on the ground, with food — that appeared to be untouched — placed on a nearby table.
