Olivia and Ethan Plath Get 'No Closure' as They Have Tense First Reunion Since Separating (Exclusive)

Tensions are running high for Olivia and Ethan Plath as they reunite for the first time since separating in the season premiere of Welcome to Plathville.

The pair have stayed apart since their contentious breakup last year, but in PEOPLE’s exclusive look at the July 16 premiere, they come face to face to talk about what could have been different in their marriage.

As Olivia and Ethan discuss what they hope to get from their conversation, neither of them seem sure.

“Is there anything that you wanted to talk about?” she asks. “Anything on your mind that you wanted to get off your chest? Any closure that you needed?”

“There's no closure,” he quickly responds.

When Olivia tearfully asks if Ethan is “still angry” with her for asking him to put her before his family, he says he is “very much so.”

“Why did you tell me that me not having a relationship with my siblings for a year was not a sacrifice or a compromise?” he questions his ex wife.

“It's not like I was unable to see that that was a sacrifice on your part,” she explains. “But I feel like that was held over my head when that, to me, was like the bare minimum for protecting your partner.”

Ethan then says Olivia should have tried “to fix” the problems instead of wanting them to distance themselves from the family altogether, but Olivia stands by her approach.

“That's probably a way that I wasn't a good fit for you,” she says. “It took me far too long to realize that between me and your family, you were going to pick your family.”

Ethan, growing more frustrated, hits back: “That's because you made me choose.”

Recognizing that the two are not going to be on the same page, Olivia says, “Maybe I should’ve walked away a lot sooner,” but Ethan continues to shake his head at their lack of agreement.

“I knew it wasn't right for a long time and I probably could have saved you heartache if I had acknowledged that sooner, and I'm sorry,” she goes on to say.

“That wouldn't have saved me any heartache,” he responds as he scoffs at Olivia’s explanation.

As the clip nears an end, the exchange grows more tense, with the former couple avoiding eye contact and Olivia beginning to cry. 

“So you're happy now with your family?” she asks before Ethan can be seen shaking his head and the screen goes dark.
