Music producer and Murder Inc. Records cofounder Irv Gotti has been accused of sexual assault and abuse.

In a lawsuit filed on July 11 in Miami, an unidentified woman alleged Gotti, 54, raped and abused her over the course of a two-year period between 2020 and 2022. According to the complaint, which was obtained by PEOPLE, the plaintiff first met the producer through a mutual friend at a poker game in 2020.

After they met, the Jane Doe alleges Gotti invited her on a vacation to St. Martin where she alleges the music producer coerced her into having sex with him. Per the lawsuit, "Gotti specifically threatened Plaintiff that he would send her home if she did not comply with his demands. Accordingly, and due to his power and influence in the music world, she complied."

Upon their return from vacation, the plaintiff claims she and Gotti entered into a relationship which lasted until 2022. During this time, she alleges she "suffered constant abuse."

The woman claims that in January 2022, the DJ forced her to perform oral sex on him in a hotel elevator in Miami. She also claims that later that same year, he forced her to perform oral sex again, this time in the back of an Uber in Atlanta.

"She’s suffered a lot,” the plaintiff's lawyer Adriana AlcaldeIn tells PEOPLE, before citing the #MeToo movement for helping women feel more comfortable in speaking up. "Now I think women feel a little more empowered to tell their story."

According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff is asking for a trial by jury, as well as compensatory damages.

Gotti is best known for his work in the hip-hop industry. Over the years, he has worked with JAY-Z, Ja Rule, Ashanti and Kanye West, among others.
