Welcome to The Blueprint, where we break down the celebrity looks we want to wear right now and build them back up, piece by piece.

Never Have I Ever doubted Mindy Kaling’s style.

On Sunday, The Mindy Project star showed off her latest fashion venture with an Instagram Story. “Entering my 'big pants/little top' era” the 44-year-old captioned the snap. Smiling away from the camera in her bedazzled tank top and big pocketed-pants, she continued, “These cargos are @alc_ltd and I love them! Any other suggestions?”

Speaking of suggestions, do we think she took one from Taylor Swift? Because I do. She’s a proud Swiftie after all, who just so happens to have practically worn the singer’s outfit to a T: Last September, Swift was spotted in a tank top and cargos, too. And the era connection is not lost on me.

The truth is, neither the cool-for-summer shirt, nor the Oprah-worn pants style were statement pieces. But the juxtaposition of both tight and loose items created statement-making proportions that would also be helpful in the heat.

The body-hugging tank top enhances your shape (instead of drowning it in drapey fabric) and steps away from sweaty layers. Plus, wide-leg pants are at the top of the celebrity pyramid right now and are going to be manageable for work, play, or all-da -

y wear.

Alo Yoga is known for its comfy clothing and big celebrity fan base, including Jennifer Garner, Jennifer Lawrence, Katie Holmes, and Blake Lively. But maybe it should be known for these wide-leg trousers. They’re “superior quality and look so chic,” according to one shopper, and they’re supposed to be wider-than-wide-leg, per the brand, which, in my opinion, will create an even more dramatic silhouette.

A few shoppers also raved about them for traveling, and any pants that can pass the travel test must be comfortable. TL;DR: They’re pants I want in my collection. You can also go for a pocket-less pair (not cargos) if you like to be light on the legs and not carry anything with you.

Tank tops sometimes seem a little boring, but as long as they don’t go overboard with big sleeves, the look won’t be compromised. Pearls are classic and might lighten up the edge that the cargos bring. I also need thick straps more often than not, so this Anthropologie top with a bit of flutter would be my heavy-hitter on days I need the support.
