Matthew McConaughey has Ryan Reynolds to thank for his hunky new nickname!

On Sunday, August 4, the actor's wife Camila Alves McConaughey joked that she will now be calling him a “hunk of heaven” on her Instagram Stories, after Reynolds, 47, did the same in a post as he confirmed McConaughey's surprise cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine.

Sharing a shot of McConaughey holding up a pistol while dressed as ‘Cowboypool’ in the film, Reynolds wrote, “At its best, this business is an actual community and showing up for each other is a great example of that. Huge thanks to this gorgeous hunk of Heaven @officialmcconaughey.”

“Not only do he and @camillamcconaughey make the one and only @pantalonestequila,” he continued, referring to the couple’s tequila brand. “But he also delves into the less exciting world of acting from time to time.”

In Deadpool & Wolverine, McConaughey voices the character of Cowboypool who arrives during the final fight scene in the film as part of the Deadpool Corps.

His surprise cameo reveal coincides with several others in the film, including Blake Lively as Ladypool, Henry Cavill as a Wolverine variant, Jennifer Garner as Elektra, Chris Evans as Johnny Storm, Wesley Snipes as Blade and many more.

McConaughey’s appearance in the new Marvel film is particularly unexpected after the actor previously turned down a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

He shared in 2016 that he passed on starring in the second Guardians of the Galaxy movie as he felt the role was more of a gimmick.

Speaking to Playboy, per Gizmodo, he said at the time, "I like Guardians of the Galaxy, but what I saw was 'It’s successful, and now we’ve got room to make a colorful part for another big-name actor.’ I'd feel like an amendment."
