Jack White has stealth-released a new solo album that is only available at retail outlets of his Third Man Records in Detroit, Nashville and London.

The album, which comes in an otherwise blank sleeve stamped with the letters “NO NAME” in White’s signature shade of blue and bears the catalog number TMR-1000, is being given for free with any purchase, as reported by Detroit’s Metro Times. The paper noted that the album “sounds more stripped down and guitar-heavy” than White’s most recent releases, “Fear of the Dawn” and “Entering Heaven Alive”, both issued in 2022.

A different fan posted on social media, ““Five tracks in and so far this is the most White Stripesy solo release I’ve heard from Jack!”

Solid information is scarce but according to the Instagram story of Third Man’s London store, the album will only be available on Friday (July 19); a post on the IG story of the Detroit store shows a copy with blue fingerp -

rints on the clear vinyl, and both have shared posts from fans about the release.

A Detroit resident tells Variety that the area around Third Man Records in the city is “nuts.”

Inevitably, copies have begun popping up for sale on eBay, at prices ranging from $800-$1,000.

Reps for White and Third Man Records did not respond to Variety’s requests for comment, or apparently to other media outlets. Sources tell Variety that even store employees decline to comment on the album, which is simply slipped into the bag with other purchases without comment.

The move is very on-brand for White, who is a formidable proponent of the vinyl industry and opened his own pressing plant along with his Third Man Records label and stores, which specialize in elaborate limited-edition releases by a wide variety of artists.
