Emmy season is officially underway. The 2024 nominees will be announced on Wednesday, July 17, at 8:30 a.m. PT/11:30 a.m. ET at the historic El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood and livestreamed on the official Emmy website and YouTube.

Fans can also catch the stream via the Television Academy’s Facebook, Instagram and the Television Academy’s TikTok account.

Emmy Award winnersTony Hale (“Veep”) and Sheryl Lee Ralph (“Abbott Elementary”) will host, along with Television Academy Chair Cris Abrego.

Top drama contenders include Disney+’s “Ahsoka”; Netflix’s “The Crown” and “3 Body Problem”; Prime Video’s “Fallout” and “Mr. and Mrs. Smith”; Apple TV+’s “The Morning Show” and FX’s “Shōgun” — with Variety’s senior awards editor Clayton Davis predicting that it will be feted with the top honor.

V+’s “Loot,” Netflix’s “The Gentlemen,” FX’s “What We Do in the Shadows” and comedy hit (and last year’s Emmy winner) “The Bear” are all considered shoe-ins.

Davis predicts Shōgun will reign supreme, followed by its FX counterpart “The Bear” and Prime Video’s “Fallout.” However, given the sheer volume of series and performers, Davis predicts that Netflix will have the most nominations of any network.

Three shows dominated last year’s Emmy Awards: “Succession,” “The Bear” and “Beef.” Each show nearly swept its respective category in the drama, comedy and limited series races. “Succession” and “The Bear” tied with a leading six wins each, and “Beef” followed closely with five trophies.

The76thEmmy Awardswill be broadcast liveon Sunday, Sept. 15, from 8:00 to 11:00 p.m. ET/5:00 to 8:00 p.m. PT on ABC and streamed the next day on Hulu.
