Deadpool & Wolverine has had quite the lead-up.

Starting with the appearance of Hugh Jackman's Logan/Wolverine in 2000's X-Men, the compelling, heart-wrenching (and, in Deadpool's case, hilarious) stories of both characters have been told onscreen with gusto over the past 24 years, to much acclaim and success.

And while it wasn't until 2016 that Ryan Reynolds' Wade Wilson/Deadpool got his own movie, the superhero jokester first appeared on the big screen in X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009).

He continued of Jackman, 55, "I heard my name, ‘Ryan!’ in between these trailers as I was walking. And it was you. Just the fact that you knew my name meant so much to me. And you came over, you gave me a big hug and you said, ‘Welcome aboard.’ ”
