Now, Bullock and Kidman are in talks to return to their witchy roots in a forthcoming followup film, Warner Bros. announced Monday morning.

Back in 2019,HBO Max was pursuing a “Practical Magic” spinoff series, “Rules of Magic,” based on Hoffman’s prequel novel, but that series never came to be.

While it’s become a cult favor -

ite in the 20 years since its release, it was met with mixed reviews upon its 1998 premiere. In a 1998 Variety review of the film, critic Emanuel Levy wrote that Dunne’s “light, undernourished ‘Practical Magic‘ will not much improve Hollywood’s record on witchcraft.”

However, Kidman and Bullock proved to be the most compelling part of the film who, according to Levy, “work together and complement each other well. Cashing in on the screen image that has made her a star, Bullock rehashes a role that by now she can play in her sleep, the ordinary, down-to-earth but bright woman. Sporting long red hair, and wearing colorful outfits that display her shapely legs to an advantage, Kidman brings spark to the flashier role, one calling for incoherent twists and turns that she miraculously survives.”
