Fitness influencer Miguel Angel Aguilar has died, three months after being shot during a robbery. He was 43.
Aguilar's fitness brand, Self Made Training Facility, revealed the news of his death in an Instagram post on Saturday, Dec. 21.
“We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our founder and CEO, Miguel Angel Aguilar,” the post's caption read. “After a courageous three-month battle following the tragic incident that took place on September 13th, 2024, Miguel peacefully passed away on December 21st, 2024 surrounded by his loved ones.”
“Miguel was more than just a leader,” the statement continued. “He was a visionary, an inspiration, a mentor, a father, a husband, family, and a dear friend to many. His unwavering dedication to Self Made Training Facility, his passion for the fitness industry and entrepreneurial spirit have left an enduring legacy.”
Then sharing that Aguilar “revolutionized personal training and inspired countless individuals to pursue their fitness and entrepreneurial goals,” the statement concluded with a reminder to celebrate his life.
“As we mourn the loss of our dear friend and leader, we also celebrate his extraordinary life and the po -
sitive impact he had on so many. Miguel’s spirit will live on through Self Made Training Facility," the statement said. "We will continue to honor his legacy by staying true to our mission and values while continuing to innovate and serve our franchises, trainers, members, clients, and the rest of our current and future Self Made Family members. According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), officers were called to Thurston Circle in Bel-Air around 4:30 p.m. local time on Sept. 13.
Four male suspects “approached the victim and demanded the victim’s property,” LAPD officer Kevin Terzes told PEOPLE at the time, adding, “One suspect produced a handgun and fired multiple times striking the victim.”
Terzes said the suspects then fled the scene in a vehicle.

The LAPD did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for an update on the case on Sunday, Dec. 22.
