Ellen DeGeneres' last hurrah is almost here.

On Sept. 2, Netflix announced that DeGeneres' upcoming comedy special, Ellen Degeneres: For Your Approval, will premiere globally on the streamer on Sept. 24. This comes nearly six years after DeGeneres' first-ever Netflix comedy special, Ellen DeGeneres: Relatable, debuted in 2018.

Ellen Degeneres: For Your Approval — directed by Joel Gallen and produced by DeGeneres, 66, her wife Portia de Rossi, Ben Winston and Fulwell 73 Productions — will be the final comedy special of DeGeneres' career. Per a synopsis from Netflix, the comedy special shows the Finding Dory star as she "gets personal and reveals what she's been doing since being 'kicked out of show business.'"

"From the mundane world of raising chickens and parallel parking to the harsh reality of becoming a brand name celebrity, she goes deep into her stand-up roots and brings the laughs through life's most real and absurd realities," the description concludes.

DeGeneres' big return to the comedy world comes after she ended her long-running talk show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, in May 2022 after 19 seasons. Beforehand, she confirmed in an interview withThe Hollywood Reporterthat the toxic workplace allegations her eponymous series faced didn't factor into her decision to conclude the series.

"To all of you who have watched me and supported me, thank you so much for this platform," she said -

in her final monologue. "And I hope that what I've been able to do in the last 19 years has made you happy, and that I was able to take a little bit of pain away from a bad day or anything you're going through."

"And I hope I've been able to inspire you to make other people happy and to do good in the world, to feel like you have a purpose," she added. "And I've said it before, but I'll say it again: If I've done anything in the past 19 years, I hope I've inspired you to be yourself — your true, authentic self."

Two years later, DeGeneres announced her plans to hit the road for her Ellen’s Last Stand… Up tour.

Kicking things off in San Diego on June 19, the 27-stop tour was set to last through Aug. 17. However, a hiccup occurred in July as Ticketmasterissued an “event canceled” message to fans attending DeGeneres’ Dallas, San Francisco, Seattle and Chicago shows, which were scheduled to occur between July and August.

In one of her summer tour stops, the comedian addressed the future of her career, with SFGate reporting her saying, "This is the last time you’re going to see me. After my Netflix special, I’m done."
