As the daughter of a seasoned Nordstrom cardholder who wandered the department store long before I learned the alphabet, I'm well-versed in the extensive rewards and benefits of The Nordy Club. Nordstrom's membership programis a valuable shopping toolbecause it provides access to the department store's best deals, exclusive benefits, and early sales just by signing up.

Read on for my breakdown of all of the reasons why the Nordstrom loyalty program is a must for every smart shopper.

Whether you’re taking advantage of mid-summer savings or buying ahead for winter, these are some of the best deals at this year's Anniversary Sale.

The Nordy Club is a membership that gives you a front-row seat to better savings and early access to coveted sales, including the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale — so you can grab that cute pair of shoes before anyone else.

Depending on your membership status, you can receive basic alterations for free, attend lifestyle events and workshops, and get exclusive early access to select brands and sales, such as Clear the Rack, a quarterly sale at Nordstrom Rack, the brand’s off-price department store, that offers an additional 25 percent off of the clearance section. Did someone say super savings?

Signing up for The Nordy Club membership is totally free for the most basic member level. All you need to enter is your name, phone number, and address to get your account set up with Nordstrom and start earning points on your fashionable purchases. But if you’re an avid Nordstrom shopper who wants to get the most cash back on your purchases, you’ll need to invest to save.

Member access is free and doesn't require a minimum spend per year to retain your status. You can enjoy perks like free basic alterations, early access to select brands and Nordstrom Rack's Clear the Rack sale, Nordy Club exclusive promotions, and even lifestyle workshops.

Influencer access includes all of the same perks, plus a few more. With this membership level comes three "personal double points days" where, on days of your choosing, you can earn double points on your purchases, plus priority access to Nordstrom style events. Influencers must spend at least $500 per year to retain this level of membership. You also unlock this level when you open up a Nordstrom credit card.

Ambassador access ups the ante with four additional perks, including a personal in-home stylist, a total of four "personal double points days," and invite-only events: workshops, parties, and trunk shows that only members can attend. You’ll need to spend $5,000 at Nordstrom per year to achieve and attain this level of membership.

Icon access is the cream of the Nordstrom crop, meaning you’ve spent $15,000 or more in a year at Nordstrom — and they want to thank you for it. In addition to all of the other perks, you get a total of five "personal double points days," same-day delivery in select locations, off-hours access to your favorite Nordstrom store, unlimited advanced alterations, extremely early access to the Anniversary Sale, and reimbursement for Nordstrom credit card fees. Did we mention you're also treated to Icon-Only events and exclusive dining and spa experiences?

With every dollar spent at either Nordstrom or Nordstrom Rack, you earn one point in your Nordy Club account. With enough points, you can earn Nordstrom Notes, which are redeemable like cash at any Nordstrom store. Notes only apply toward Nordstrom purchases — you cannot exchange them for cash or credit.

h doubles your points per purchase (i.e. 2 points for $1). Even better, if you’ve earned enough points to unlock Ambassador or Icon status, you’ll triple your points for every dollar spent with a Nordstrom card. If you’d rather not wait as long to earn a Note or two, you can purchase though the Nordstrom App to unlock a $5 Note after earning 500 points or $15 for 1,500 points.

There are also chances for Nordy Club members to score bonus Nordstrom Notes throughout the year, which you’ll be alerted of via . Basically, Nordstrom gives money away to some of its most loyal customers — so it’s worth it to save up Notes.

Fashion lovers will appreciate Nordstrom's upscale brand events. These gatherings are invite-only and include things like exclusive shopping parties, trunk shows, and retailer workshops.

Members of The Nordy Club can receive free basic alterations on pieces purchased from Nordstrom stores in select Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack locations. Cardmembers have elevated access to alteration benefits, including reimbursement through Nordstrom Notes once you pay for your advanced alterations service. Cardmembers can get up to $200 back in Nordstrom Notes, and Icons can get up to $300 back.

Having a Nordstrom membership means that you can shop sales like the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, Clear the Rack Sale, plus new product and brand launches before they’re available to all other customers.

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is an annual summer event that offers limited-time deals on new arrivals, everyday favorites, and exclusive beauty bundles. Prices are slashed on popular brands like Adidas, Birkenstock, and Hoka, as well as some higher-end labels like Max Mara and Lafayette 148.

This year’s Anniversary Sale will take place from July 15 to August 4, but Nordy Club members get an early access pass to shop the sale before the rest of the public. Nordstrom cardholders get first dibs on everything with even earlier access.

Shoppers take advantage of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale to pad out their summer wardrobe, prepare for back-to-school season, and purchase more expensive things like boots, winter coats, and jeans while they’re off-price and off-season.

You can even buy beauty products in the Beauty Exclusives section of the Anniversary Sale, allowing you to stock up on your favorites and try popular brands like MAC Cosmetics, Charlotte Tilbury, Lancôme, and more at discounted prices.

In addition to carrying thousands of popular fashion and beauty labels, Nordstrom has its own collection of exclusive brand called Nordstrom Made. These brands make clothes for a wide range of shoppers and are only available at Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack stores.

Signing up for a Nordstrom card will give you two days early access to the sale — but Icon-level memberships grant a six-day head start to shopping.
