Heather Stines is charged with concealment of a human corpse

A New York City woman was arrested after authorities say they found human remains inside a refrigerator in a Brooklyn apartment.

According to a report from NBC New York, CBS New York and the New York Daily News, the NYPD says that on Monday it found body parts, including a human head, being stored in an apartment on Nostrand Avenue.

Heather Stines, who lived in the apartment, was arrested in the aftermath of the discovery, according to NBC and the Daily News. Jail records indicate that Stines is charged with concealment of a human corpse, as well as three counts of misdemeanor larceny and one count of felony bail jumping.

Police say the refrigerator was -

taped up, according to NBC’s report, and that the case is now being investigated as a homicide.

NBC reports that investigators identified the body as that of Kawsheen Gelzer.

Stines’ neighbor in the building spoke to the Daily News. 

“She was saying, ‘Oh my God I’m going to jail,’” Germaine Roberts told the paper. “They wouldn’t let her in the apartment.”

It is not immediately clear if Stines has retained an attorney or entered a plea, but according to jail records, her next court appearance is Tuesday.
