Leading French animation sales-distribution outfit Dandelooo has secured global distribution rights to the new animated comedy series “Under the Sofa,” produced by Barcelona-based studio Teidees.

The show’s first of 52 seven-minute episodes will be shared at Mip Junior later this year, with delivery of the full season scheduled for May 2025.

An official synopsis for the colorful series, which is aimed at kids 6-10, reads: “‘Under the Sofa’ is a comedy in which a group of lost objects such as Diver – a scuba diver figure and the only survivor of a squad of toy commandoes, Dusty the fluffball, Selfie – a polaroid photo, Chip – a cookie with a bit missing, Top – a cotton bud, Queen Penny and Beaver get a second chance as they live in hiding under a sofa.

Part sitcom, part adventure series, in ‘Under the Sofa’, we meet imperfect characters forced to live together in imperfect harmony, trying to survive in the apartment of a family that aspires to perfection. There’s a unique world very close to you, right under yo -

ur sofa. Have you looked? You might just find some characters who happen to live there!”

Featuring a vibrant palette and plenty of cartoony action, the show promises more than just comedy. It was developed to offer a new take on recomposed and recycled goods and provide kids with a different perspective on the value of easily discarded objects. Just because something has lost its luster doesn’t mean it has no value.

According to Dandeloo, “The essence of the series follows the heart and humor of ‘Toy Story’ with the friendship dynamics of ‘Friends.’ With character-driven stories, the series is a sharp comedy with lovable characters and unique situations. And, as misfits, they navigate life and relationships as they interact between themselves.”

In development for several years now, “Under the Sofa” was first pitched at Cartoon Forum in 2016 before being added to the official selection at El Menu Primer in Barcelona.
