Welcome to The Blueprint, where we break down the celebrity looks we want to wear right now and build them back up, piece by piece.

It’s not every day you see a photo of an A-lister on a red carpet and think, “Hey, I could wear that.” Typically red carpet fashion is flashy (and I love it for that), but not every event is Cannes — sometimes it’s just Tribeca.

Dakota Fanning wore a simple but elegant look to the premiere of Mastermind: To Think Like A Killer during the Tribeca Festival in New York, and I want to copy it piece by piece for occasions when I need to be put together (I also just want these pieces in my closet for everyday styling).

On top, she wore a flattering wrap-front top in an ivory satin fabric, which I could easily wear with jeans and boots in the fall, too. The timeless blouse was paired with an equally classic black midi skirt, which I would also wear with a simple white tank top in the heat of summer. The length of the skirt was perfect for showing off her cross-strap sandals, a style I love because there’s no way to get an ankle blister (the worst!).

This satin wrap shirt is pretty similar to Fanning’s: It has the same pretty V-neck, crossover front, slight sheen to the fabric, and long sleeves that can be pushed up like the actress did. For something better suited to the upcoming heat, check out this sleeveless st -

yle made of a lightweight chiffon fabric. There’s also this long-sleeve option made of lightweight fabric that’s moisture-wicking and UV-protective.

A black midi skirt is a versatile staple to have in your closet year-round. In summer, you can wear them with everything from tank tops and T-shirts to button-ups and fancy blouses, and they’ll keep you nice and cool thanks to their breezy design.

This pleated skirt from Banana Republic Factory has a length and fullness that’s similar to Fanning’s, but it has more of an everyday feel in linen than her red carpet style. Bonus: It’s double-discounted right now, bringing its original $100 price tag down to $51. For a more streamlined look, try this Rails skirt with a flattering wrap waist, and for a evening option, check out this side-slit Reformation skirt.

These Amazon Essentials heels are so similar to Fanning’s, and they’re a steal at $33. They have a very walkable 2.25-inch heel and multiple reviewers confirm they are comfortable. For something leather, check out these cross-strap mules, and for a comfy flat version, look no further than the Rothy’s Weekend Slide.
