Chloe Chrisley Says Being Adopted By Todd and Julie Chrisley Was the 'Best Day' of Her Life

Chloe Chrisley is offering an update on her life in an open discussion with Savannah Chrisley.

On this week’s episode of Savannah's Unlocked podcast, the 26-year-old host welcomed sister Chloe, who is technically her niece, to talk about how she's been doing since Julie and Todd Chrisley began their prison sentences.

Chloe is the biological daughter of Todd's estranged son Kyle and a woman named Angela Johnson. In 2016, Todd, 55, and Julie, 51, legally adopted Chloe amid Kyle's history ofsubstance abuse and run-ins with the law. But inNovember 2022, Todd and Julie were sentenced to time in prison for tax evasion and fraud, causing Savannah to be awarded custody of her minor siblings,Grayson, now 18, and Chloe, 11.

“You chose for your mom to be Julie and for your dad to be Todd, and why is that?” Savannah asked Chloe on her podcast.

“Because they're my parents,” she replied simply, adding that she always saw them play that role in her life far before she was adopted.

“Do they make you feel loved and safe?” the Chrisley Knows Best alum continued, to which Chloe responded, "Yes."

The two also recalled Chloe's adoption day in 2016 and the emotions that followed. Looking back on the moment when the judge signed off on her adoption, Chloe remembered sitting on her mom’s lap as they waited in the courtroom.

“Dad was crying a lot,” she recalled of Todd. “It was a good day.”

Savannah said she remembered Chloe being “so happy” as Todd “was sobbing.” The two also joked that because it was pajama day at school, Chloe had her “onesie” on under her nice dress.

“Best day ever,” Chloe said, later once again naming “my adoption day” as her favorite memory.

Savannah also noted that Chloe is “my sister,” rather than her niece, but emphasized how she has to step in as a parent sometimes.

“Our relationship is really interesting, because I have to be a parent to you, but I also am your sister,” Savannah explained, later adding. “We fight with each other, but we love each -

other, that’s for sure.”

As the episode came to an end, Chloe had one more thing to say to those who criticize Savannah.

“She does a great job, and whoever says that she doesn’t, you're mean,” she said. “And don't watch her podcast if you're gonna be mean about it.”

“That’s my girl,” Savannah responded.

Todd and Julie were first indicted by a grand jury in 2019 fortax evasion, conspiracy and bank and wire fraud. The evasion charge was later dropped but Todd, Julie and their accountant were found guilty on all other counts, beginning their sentences in January 2023.

Savannah recalled the day Grayson and Chloe moved in with her after her parents reported to prison on a previous episode of herUnlockedpodcast, saying, "I will never forget. It was right when my parents left. We didn't touch anything in my parents' house till after they left so I moved all the kids' stuff over to my house. Chloe's room is like a disaster because we're just trying to move everything in, and I had to find them clothes to go and visit Todd and Julie that weekend, and I just broke down."

"I fell to the floor in her room and I just started crying. And I was like, I am not my mom. Like, I don't know how I'm gonna do this," she admitted.

Though she didn't feel confident in her parenting abilities at the time, Savannah said that she found it in herself to "get up" and "just do it" despite her doubts. "That's strength. I look back and I'm like, holy shoot," she added. "I don't wish this on anyone."

On June 21, a judge vacated Julie’s seven-year prison sentence, stating the caselacked sufficient evidence. Her husbandTodd's conviction was upheld.
