Around this time each year, popular retailers release new spring collections. And even though it’s still cold where I live, I can’t help but peruse (and often buy) them. I’ve learned from past experience that if I wait too long to purchase the warm-weather pieces I love, they sell out quickly, so I’m shopping them now.

Target is among those that dropped its spring styles early this year, and I already snagged a few — and I’m eyeing even more. New flowy dresses, maxi skirts, layering basics, and handbags are on my radar from A New Day, Wild Fable, and Universal Thread.

I’m hoping to add more slip dress styles like this one from A New Day to my closet this spring. I love its versatility as a skirt, layered under a sweater or t-shirt, and on its own with a pair of sandals. The scoop neck cut is made from a midweight jersey fabric and features a front slit to give the dress movement. One shopper called the piece “comfortable and flattering,” while another reviewer said it “flows nicely.”

I’ll never pass up a luxurious-looking blazer since they’re a staple in my wardrobe any time of the year. Most of -

the ones I already own are neutral hues like tan, brown, and black, so these light green and pink spring-ready options will add a pop of color to my lineup. I’ll still layer a blazer under a coat in the winter; however, once the weather heats up, I’ll trade my coat for the blazer, and it’s the perfect spring alternative.

One piece I’ve already purchased is this Universal Thread Denim Maxi Skirt, and I can’t wait for it to arrive. I’ve been wearing them a ton this winter with boots, and I can’t get enough — I’ll certainly be wearing skirts into the spring and summer. It’s “really cute and easy to style,” according to one shopper who also praised it for being “very flattering.” Even though I opted for the medium wash, I’m also thinking about grabbing it in the clay pink color.

Handbags are my favorite accessory, and I’m looking forward to transitioning out my structured black winter bags for something more spring-facing, like this tote bag from Universal Thread. The woven cane texture immediately grabbed my attention, in addition to the double handles and removable crossbody strap for styling versatility. One shopper went as far as calling it the “perfect bag for spring and summer.”
