The Biden-Harris campaign is getting a rebrand.

On Sunday, July 21, just hours after Joe Biden announced that he is stepping down from the 2024 presidential race and endorsed Kamala Harris as the Democratic presidential nominee, the politicians officially filed to alter their campaign name to reflect the change.

New documents filed with the Federal Election Commission state that the campaign will now be known as “Harris for President” — and that Harris, 59, will now be conducting business as a presidential, not vice presidential, candidate.

“This letter is to inform you that Vice President Harris is no longer a candidate in the 2024 election for Vice President,” the first filing states. “Vice President Harris is now a candidate for United States President in the 2024 election and will henceforth be conducting campaign activities only in pursuit of that office. This committee’s Statement of Organization and the Statement of Candidacy are being amended accordingly.”

The second filing — an official statement of organization filed just minutes after the first document — makes the name change, as well as Harris’s new status as a presidential candidate, official.

It also updated the committee’s official website to KamalaHarris.com, and changed the name of campaign funds to reflect Harris’s new candidacy.

News of these campaign changes comes in the wake of Biden’s announcement, which he shared in a statement on X (formerly known as Twitter).

"It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your President. And while it has been my intention to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term," he said in the statement.

Biden said he plans to "speak to the Nation later this week in more detail about my decision," but added, "For now, let me express my deepest gratitude to all those who have worked so hard to see me reelected."

He also thanked his vice president, Harris, “for being an -

extraordinary partner in all this work,” before officially endorsing her as a political candidate.

"My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it's been the best decision I've made,” he wrote on X. “Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee for our party this year. Democrats — it's time to come together and beat Trump. Let's do this.”

Following Biden’s announcement, Harris called her former running mate’s decision "selfless and patriotic,” and said she is "honored” by his endorsement in a statement shared by the campaign.

“On behalf of the American people, I thank Joe Biden for his extraordinary leadership as President of the United States and for his decades of service to our country. His remarkable legacy of accomplishment is unmatched in modern American history, surpassing the legacy of many Presidents who have served two terms in office,” she said. “It is a profound honor to serve as his Vice President, and I am deeply grateful to the President, Dr. Biden, and the entire Biden family.”

After recapping her relationship and partnership with Biden, she continued, “I am honored to have the President’s endorsement and my intention is to earn and win this nomination.”

“Over the past year, I have traveled across the country, talking with Americans about the clear choice in this momentous election. And that is what I will continue to do in the days and weeks ahead,” Harris stated. “I will do everything in my power to unite the Democratic Party — and unite our nation — to defeat Donald Trump and his extreme Project 2025 agenda."

"We have 107 days until Election Day," she concluded. "Together, we will fight. And together, we will win.”
