Nearly two months afterAngelina JolieandBrad Pitt'sdaughterShiloh Jolie-Pitt filed todrop "Pitt" from her last name, the 18-year-old has completed the next step in California's name-change process.

Shiloh recently published an announcement in the Los Angeles Times to announce that she has filed to change her name to simply "Shiloh Jolie."

According to California law, before a judge can approve a petition to change one's name, they must have the legal forms published in a newspaper for one month. Once published, the request will then show up in the legal notice section of the paper.

One week after the petition was filed in May, a source close to Pitt told PEOPLE that the father of six is "aware and upset" about the change.

“He’s aware and upset that Shiloh dropped his last name," said the source. "The reminders that he’s lost his children, is of course not easy for Br -

"He’s still happy withInes de Ramon," the source continued, but the distance from his children "pains him."

Aspreviously confirmed to PEOPLEby someone familiar with the matter, Shiloh’s documents were filed on Monday, May 27, which also happened to be her 18th birthday.

Jolie, 48, and Pitt, 60, share six kids: Maddox, 22, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, Pax, 20, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 16, and another source close to the family recently told PEOPLE that the actor has "virtually no contact" with his adult kids but still has visitation with his younger children.

"He has virtually no contact with the adult kids. His engagement with the younger kids is more limited in recent months because of his filming schedule," the source said.

The source also noted that the couple's custody agreement allows visitation rights to their minor children, sharing, "Angelina has the kids most of the time, but per their agreement, he has visitation with the younger kids."
