Affidavit: Pa. Man Allegedly Kills Ex-Girlfriend in Front of Police, Then Claims She Cheated on Him

A responding officer allegedly saw Trevor Weigel chase after Jaden Battista tackle her to the ground and repeatedly stab her in the upper body, police say

A Pennsylvania man was arrested after authorities accused him of fatally stabbing his ex-girlfriend in front of a police officer who responded to the victim’s home on Friday.

Trevor C. Weigel, 23, has been charged with criminal homicide, burglary, possession of an instrument of crime, disorderly conduct and harassment in connection with the death of 19-year-old Jaden Battista, according to a press release shared by the Bucks County District Attorney's Office.

Lower Makefield Township police were called to Battista’s Yardley home Friday afternoon on a report of a domestic-related burglary, authorities said. When the first officer arrived, he saw a man, later identified as Weigel, standing next to a red Ford Mustang with the passenger door open.

The officer allegedly saw Weigel chase after Battista, tackle her to the ground and repeatedly stab her in the upper body. He then saw Battista bleeding heavily from the chest and Weigel fleeing on foot, and during the pursuit, the suspect allegedly stabbed himself in the neck, per the release.

While the first officer tended to Battista, a second officer eventually caught up to Weigel along Interstate 295, where the officer deployed a Taser device and took the suspect into custody, authorities said.

Battista later died at the hospital. An autopsy performed the next day determined she died of multiple stab wounds to the neck and chest.

en during Weigel’s arrest appears to show him accusing Battista of cheating on him and admitting he “lost it.” Following his arrest, Weigel was taken to the hospital, where he underwent surgery for his injuries. A bloody knife was also recovered from the scene.

The affidavit states investigators learned that Battista was speaking to a friend through FaceTime around 2:15 p.m. Friday when Battista allegedly told the friend that Weigel, her ex-boyfriend, arrived at her house unannounced and began banging on the door, attempting to get inside.

While speaking with Battista, the friend heard her say that Weigel was able to get into the house through a first-floor window, according to the affidavit. The friend claims they heard a commotion, followed by a thump, and then Battista's voice became muffled as if someone was holding their hand over her mouth to prevent her from speaking. The phone call ended, and the friend attempted to call back several times, but the calls went unanswered, authorities said.

Weigel is currently being held without bail, according to the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office. It’s unclear if he has entered a plea or retained an attorney to speak on his behalf.
