Aaron Taylor-Johnson is an actor committed to his craft.

While appearing on the Dec. 20 episode of Brittany Broski's YouTube show Royal Court, the actor, 34, poked fun at his intense commitment to the roles he plays, as he jokingly teased, “We’ve barely scratched the surface."

Taylor-Johnson then went on to delve into a more serious discussion about his creative process, revealing that he is “cautious” not to bring heavy roles home with him after work. The actor shares daughters Wylda Rae, 14, and Romy Hero, 12, with wife Sam Taylor-Johnson.

“You’re trying to shed a skin, or actually, like, an aura around you,” he explained. “And you can sort of like convince yourself there isn’t one, but I do feel some people are really susceptible to that, and sensitive to that feeling.”

In terms of how he typically preps for a role, Taylor-Johnson detailed, “It really kinda depends,” adding, “I kind of enjoy, like, finding habits, like, good and bad habits of that character, and sort of living in that routine and pattern … or listening to certain music that would be associated with that era of time."

"It’s multiple things, because, you’re also, like, changing facial hair o -

r your hair or what your clothes are or what you're wearing, so that — eventually — it becomes second nature, and ideally you’re already in that character when you step on set," he continued.

Taylor-Johnson also shared some behind-the-scenes details about his new film Kraven the Hunter, revealing that he was on a “very strict” diet while training for the role.

He told Broski, 27, that his on-set nutritionist, Nathan Schmit, even made him specialized snacks to curb his “sweet cravings,” including nutritionally dense deserts.
