Universal’s “Despicable Me 4” maintained its lead at the U.K. and Ireland box office for the second consecutive week, earning £4.9 million ($6.3 million), according to numbers from Comscore. The animated sequel has now accumulated £17.4 million in total.

Warner Bros.’ “Twisters” made a notable entrance, blowing into the second position with a £4.1 million opening. Disney’s “Inside Out 2” continued to perform well in its sixth week, adding £1.5 million to reach a cumulative total of £47.2 million after six weekends.

Black Bear’s “Longlegs” held onto fourth place in its second week with £1.3 million, bringing its total to £3.9 million. Paramount’s “A Quiet Place: Day One” rounded out the top five, earning £447,907 in its fourth week for a total of £9 million.

Further down the chart, Bollywood film “Bad Newz” from Moviegoers and Altitude’s “Blur: To The End” debuted at seventh and eighth places respectively, with openings of £165,464 and £147,981. The National Theatre Live’s re-release of “Present Laughter” closed out the top 10, adding £108,736 in its second week for a total of £586, -

Coming up, on Thursday, July 25, all eyes will be on Disney’s superhero team-up adventure “Deadpool & Wolverine.”

There are several releases on the Friday. From Picturehouse Entertainment comes Cannes winner “About Dry Grasses,” directed by Nuri Bilge Ceylan, a drama exploring the life of a teacher in a remote Turkish village.

Timed for the Paris Olympics, Park Circus’ re-release of the 1981 Oscar and BAFTA-winning classic “Chariots of Fire” will allow audiences to revisit the inspiring true story of British athletes competing in the 1924 Olympics. Also from Park Circus is “I Saw The TV Glow,” directed by Jane Schoenbrun, that tells the story of two teenagers whose lives are changed by a mysterious late-night TV show.

New Wave’e Berlinale winner “The Echo,” directed by Tatiana Huezo, presents a coming-of-age tale set in a remote Mexican village.

And from the rich palette of India’s Malayalam-language cinema comes mystery-thriller “Level Cross” starring Asif Ali, Amala Paul and Sharafudheen, distributed by Yash Raj Films.
