Shannen Doherty is being remembered across Hollywood.

Several celebrities paid tribute to the Charmed and Beverly Hills, 90210 star over the weekend after her longtime publicist Leslie Sloane confirmed exclusively to PEOPLE that the actress died on Saturday, July 13, following years of living with cancer.

Since Doherty's death, both those who knew her and those who were fans of her work have shared messages and memories relating to the late actress on social media. Among them, Viola Davis left a comment under PEOPLE's Instagram post about Doherty's death, reacting to the news.

"Oh man! So sad. Rest in peace❤," the Academy Award winner wrote.

Other reactions underneath PEOPLE's post came from Olivia Munn, who shared a few heartbreak emojis, and Kristin Chenoweth, who wrote: "Fly with the angels sweet precious soul!"

Katie Couric also shared a tribute, posting a carousel of images of the star — including one shot of the pair hugging each other at an event.

"I’m so sad to hear this news," she wrote.

Those who've acted alongside Doherty also shared statements of their own on social media.

Eric West, who worked with the late star on 2021's Fortress, wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that his "heart is broken."

"It was a pleasure to meet Shannen Doherty while filming our movie Fortess a little over 2 years ago," the actor wrote. "She was full o -

f warm energy and positive vibes. So young. So talented. May she rest well."

Doherty's death follows years of the actress living with cancer. In 2023, she spoke with PEOPLE about her breast cancer, which had then spread to her bones.

On her Instagram Story, Munn — who discussed her own breast cancer diagnosis with PEOPLE earlier this year — wrote that she was "absolutely heartbroken" over Doherty's death.

"When I was first diagnosed with breast cancer I remember how she bravely let the world into her journey and reached out to her," Munn wrote. "We became instant friends — which I honestly couldn't comprehend at times because watching her on 90210 was everything to me when I was 10."

The actress then detailed how the pair "bonded through a shared battle and a desire to help other women."

"Looking back on the last text she sent me just a couple months ago, she asked how I was doing and if she could do anything for me," Munn wrote. "True to form, Shannen was offering her support even though she was in the final stage of fighting this horrific disease... Cancer is really f------ scary and Shannen faced it with such dignity, strength and grace."

"I'm sending all of my love to her mother who was her best friend, hero and champion every step of the way," she added. "Fly so high, my friend."
